which has to be one of the best experiences I have had. I have taken double
the clinics required in order to gain deeper knowledge and experience. I
have passed the most difficult NCCAOM Exam given, which is Chinese Herbology.
I have also formulated an extensive business plan, worked on brochures,
assembled PowerPoint Seminars on Chinese Medicine, Student interned a second
semester at Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital, and much more then I
can remember.
- I am scheduled to take my last two NCCAOM exams in early
August, before I graduate

Updates 10/15/06
- I am so excited
about traveling to Vietnam from
December 15, 2006 to January 15, 2007. Vietnam's leading
hospital of traditional medicine, located in Hanoi,
The National Hospital of Traditional Medicine,
has short internships for foreign students of Oriental Medicine. The
plan is to spent one week each in 4 different departments of medicine. A
week in Internal Medicine, a week in Ob/Gyn, a
week in Diagnosis and Disease, and a week in Pediatrics.
When I return I will set up a page of photos and experiences.
- We started this semester on
May 16th. Here is my class list. I have Tuina, - Advance
Needle Technique (AKA Japanese Acupuncture and Diagnosis),
Chinese Herbal Formulas II - Internal Medicine.
- I have taken 3 clinic shifts
this semester:
- 1st Clinic is at a
Women's Shelter treating abused and
battered women and children. A very important clinic to help those who
are suffering.
- 2nd Clinic is at our school
clinic. It is an Herbal Clinic. We
treat patients only with herbs. This has been an amazing experience with
effective results. We learn how to apply, modify, and prescribe formulas
for all types of diseases and illnesses.
- 3rd Clinic is at
HEALTHSOUTH Rehabilitation Hospital. I
am very proud to attend SWAC, because of the Externships they have built
which provides us with so many opportunities. The hospital setting
provides so many patients with such a wide array of illnesses, and
injuries, that it has accelerated my clinical experience and insight.
The patients benefit, and as interns, we learn so much. I plan to take
another semester or two at Healthsouth.
